Carpathian Red is known for its bold, complex flavour, hot and sharp when raw, warm, sweet, and aromatic when roasted, a lingering, savory finish. More complex than many Porcelains, with a bit of “spice” in the background. It produces tall, elegant scapes, very flavourful grilled or pickled. It thrives in cold climates, Merritt’s climate—cold winters, hot summers—performs extremely well. Bulbs size up well even in tough seasons and shows good disease resistance. Carpathian Red has 8-12 cloves per bulb. It stores well for 4-6 months when stored properly.
